The Doc is on the Telly

Cheering for the Right Crew. A very brief Doctor Who-update: The Best Sci-Fi show in the Universe has been nominated for an impressive THREE National Television Awards! Congrats, champagne and balloon wishes! The D-day is set for the 31st of October, so please keep supporting our beloved team! You may recall that earlier this year, sometime in July as far as I can remember, I mentioned the preliminary rounds of voting and ruling out the least popular candidates, with regard to this particular broadcast? Well, those days of formalities are over, and what's left is a tight competition of battles between excellent nominees and wonderful shows to vote for. And then an evening filled with tributes, tears and - hopefully - sneak peak clips from Series Four. Let's pray. David Tennant has the chance to score a hat trick this year, should he win for best male actor, seeing that both he and Chris Eccleston have triumphed in this category over the last two years - with their stylistically different, but equally amazing portrayals of that Lovely Time Lord. In fact, since its Return, WHO's been absolutely unbeatable and succeeded with regard to all possible nominations. At every award. And The Doctor deserves to kick ass alien wise at this one, too! David recently received a nomination for the Spirit Of Scotland Award, too, opposite James McAvoy and Tilda Swinton, so I'm guessing he feels kinda esteemed nowadays. Probably won't lift him off the ground, though. Albeit he likes dressing up like a Prima Donna. *Coughs* Moreover! Doctor Who - on the whole - has this year the honour of being up against Life on Mars, for best Drama. LoM, being a grand piece of crime fiction starring Doctor Who villain John Simm in his best role ever, will at least prove a most prominent loser when DW sweeps the floor and conquers all again. Because, I mean, they must. They're the best! Believe it or not, I'm actually cheering for Freema Agyeman. Been there, done that, now a member of Torchwood. We aren't too sad, now, are we? Plus, it seemed like John Barrowman could handle her pretty well. Second, there'll be more alien hunters for her to hook up with, so she doesn't have to go longing for the guy she just couldn't have all the time. Simultaneously, the rumours concerning Billie Piper's return to her legendary role as Rose Marion Tyler, The Doctor's real true love, are getting heavier and more substantial. She has indeed, as confirmed by herself on Parkinson (British, old style talk show available on youtube, lol) a while ago, been practising not only in front of her own bathroom mirror, but together with best buddy David Tennant as well! That's more like it! Speaking of which, though; this evening, all of a sudden and during a commercial break in between voting rounds on "So you thing you can dance", of which I am a very devoted viewer, no other than Mr. David Tennant himself appeared - guffawing - on my TV screen. In a teaser for some other, British heart-to-heart prouction. Let it be said that Scara's draw dropped a mile or two, for this girl certainly isn't too spoilt with seeing her favourite Casanova-Doc on the telly! Unexpectedly! Next minute, I was online and skimming Norwegian search engines for info that could clear up the details of what I'd just been witnessing. Apparently, Graham Norton is at last coming to Norway, along with his infamous and scandalous, yet brilliantly funny talk show. (I can't wait!) And David's gonna be in episode 6, according to imdb, of which a preview has already been enjoyed to the max by yours truly. The channel in question is fortunately within my access; "TV Norge", which literally translates to "TV Norway", has been lucky enough to get hold of this fabulous success programme, and gets high fives, cheers and grateful greetings from fangirl Scara, for this excellent priority-setting. As a bonus: an entire 22" of Tennant, spectacular viewing experience, sure doesn't happen every day. After all, Billie Piper used to call him Ten-inch only. Ok, I do believe that was in a somewhat incompatible setting, but it's still a valid reason for...excitement. (Enough metaphors, yes, got it. Sorry 'bout that.) Sometime in the not-immediate future, we might also be able to delight in Series 2 of DW, on state channel NRK1. With whom I am a little angry, since they gave a promise which they in no way have fulfilled. They obviously liked Chris, that we agree about, and they have repeated Series 1 at least two times by now. Yet, those of us who own the DVD's and have seen it twice on TV, are now in serious want of the continuing, big screen adventures! And more Rose! What I've seen of "Secret Diary of a Call Girl" is great, and it doesn't look much like she's lost her talent for acting. Doesn't look like she's lost her self confidence either, by the way. So; now that's she's taking a break, getting married and planning a family - she's bound to have a moment to spend on filming three off season episodes with David before he (allegedly) leaves. Get your blonde ambitions back onboard the TARDIS, girlie! We miss you! (Keep missing you, more rightly.)Meanwhile, however, I have other DW-trivia to be anxious and smiley-faced about. For in addition, as if there couldn't be more fun related to a piece of electronics I usually don't mind that much, except for the movies: The Doctor's "new", old companion Donna Noble (aka Catherine Tate) is herself nominated for an NTA, in honour of her übergrandiose comedy show. Cathy's a superb actress and one of very few "hysterically funny" people who make me laugh out heartily. And she's such a great companion for the Lonely Doc, which I think she will prove completely over the next, upcoming Series. May she please please pretty please win her NTA, first of all, and get a taste of what next year's best actress award for her work on Doctor Who will feel like! ;) I will be crossing my fingers, toes and strands my hair. Weee, butterflies and jolly good hurray's. Go The Doctor!
